My tribal name is Kooladoo, which means "Dove" and I am from the Djungan tribe. I am an Aboriginal artist from Mareeba situated on the Atherton Tablelands. I have lived in Mareeba all of my life. My uncles and other family members taught me how to paint using traditional techniques. I have now been painting professionally since 1996. I enjoy painting many of the animals because there are dreamtime stories associated with these animals.
The art is an example of our traditional written language and helped to pass on the dreamtime stories to our children. I have a daughter who is interested in learning to paint and I have four other children. I enjoy painting on the canvas, boomerangs, didgeridoo, clap sticks and emu eggs.
